SevaDog Family and Friends

Our inspiration comes from our first rescue dog Seva...

Our Story...

Seva (SAY-VA) means "selfless service", and that's what it took to get through the first few months after adopting our first Pit Bull from a shelter. The first week was full of surprises! She nipped, ate our shoes, bolted out the front door, tried to eat our cat, walks were a disaster, she snarled and lunged at other dogs; the list goes on and on! The shelter offered no solution and we didn't want to send her back. We wondered what the heck we got ourselves into!

We decided to learn how to fix the problem. So we read every book and went to every seminar and class we could find. Seva's love was our driving force. She was worth every minute we spent on studying and practicing different techniques. We finally understood she wasn't a bad dog, she was misunderstood one. Seva soon became a true ambassador who played nice with other dogs, walked great on leash and even began sleeping with our cat.

Our hearts were shattered when we lost Seva in a tragic car accident. Mending the pieces began by helping the Seva's in our local shelter. We started bringing them home one by one to train and find homes. Soon, the requests for help came from all over. We began working for other rescues and sharing what we learned with dog owners in our community. From there, with the support and encouragement of our friends and mentors, SevaDog was born!

Dale

Kennel Master

Dale is an excellent addition to our team. His dedication to the dogs and their needs is rock solid. He has a way with dogs that makes them feel safe and loved.  He is our main "Pit Crew" care giver and for that we couldn't be more grateful. Dale was first introduced to SevaDog when we began construction and needed a contractor, he fell in love with the dogs and our mission. A few weeks later he and his wife had decided Dale would be happiest spending his days caring for the last chance dogs in our community. Watching the dogs with Dale is very special. Each dog gets a kiss on the head at the end of his shift.

Mandy

Founder/Executive Director

Mandy created SevaDog with her daughter Emma. Loosing the family dog Seva to a fatal car accident, inspired volunteering for shelters and rescues. After years of fostering, volunteering, and working in rescue, we saw the need for "family style rescueing". A new approach connecting community resources with those in need while working as a family to help all dogs. Especially those with no where else to go. Mandy takes the time to get to know her dogs, teaching them life skills, than connecting with adopters; matching them with the right SevaDog. Offering a lifetime of support once a dog finds their way home.
